The London Calling Poker Festival is underway at the Fox Poker Club as of the 11th of October 2011. Shaftesbury Avenue is host of the venue which will run for an entire 28days. The PKR series will include 57 dealer dealt events which includes PLO, No Limit Hold’em and HORSE tournaments.
With all the recent extravagant events taking place in London, this event is designed to accommodate players with a less high-stake bankroll. Most of the tournaments have affordable buy-ins of between £20 and £100. Even the Main Event only requires a relatively modest £300 buy-in. PKR marketing director Simon Prodger said of the festival: “It’s been our ambition to put on an event like this for some time, and we’re delighted that
London now has the perfect venue in which to do so. With regular buy-ins ranging from £20, London Calling is for the huge number of people who’d love to play a high-quality, dealer dealt tournament but find most poker tours and festivals are too high for their bankroll.”
Those taking part will earn points based on where they finish in each event and a leader board will keep track of this throughout the festival. The points will then be converted to starting stacks in a special freeroll taking place later at PKR.com. The event will run until the 7th of November.
Named after famous British gambler Charles Fox, the eagerly-anticipated Fox Poker Club opened in August, becoming the first ever fully licensed poker club in London. It contains 18 tables seating up to 180 players, seven plasma screens for tournament information and an ever-growing poker library.
