HOW TO PLAY
If you’re given four of a kind, you have to make sure to throw out the fifth card in the pile, so that you can hope to obtain a joker on the five card hand.
If there is a royal or straight flush, the fifth card has to be discarded to try to make the cards work with or without the joker in the hand.
If it is three of a kind, the remaining two cards that do not match them have to be discarded.
Two pairs, the fifth card is discarded so that the player can try to obtain a full house that uses or does not use a joker within it.
In any other case, where a poker hand is not given – the player has to discard all five cards in their hand.
The second group of cards can then determine the next poker hand – where those that are playing have to take as many cards as they have discarded to try to get a better, or fuller poker hand than what they currently have. The cards that make up the poker hands have to stay, while the others are discarded – much like the first hand that was dealt.
When the third group of cards is then passed around, the player has to take as many cards as they need to hold onto five. So if you had three, you must take two, or no cards, you have to take five and so on.
The cards have to be kept in the same manner as above, except if you have the joker – which you can then use much like a wild card in the hand. The player with the highest poker hand during game play wins. Even if the person has just the joker, and no poker cards – they can then put down the joker and see if others have winning hands over this.
