HOW TO PLAY
The first round of betting, a player who does not have a pair of jacks or better has to pass. Once one of the players has a jack and has opened the betting, other players are free to throw in their bets to call or raise the limits based off of what it is that they have in their hands.
The opener that calls on the bets does not actually have to have jacks in their hand, but any hand that is able to beat a pair of tens is enough. They must also discard some of the cards that gave them the authority to open up the betting in the first place. They can discard any cards that might help them get a new, better hand during game play.
During the second round, the same happens as in Five Card Draw. The pot is awarded to the winner, and the person has to show that they have the winning cards within their hand. If no one opened the bidding, the cards are thrown in and then dealt again. The opener always has to show that they have the cards to open the betting, even if the other players fold during this time. If the opener cannot show them, then this means the hand is dead and then they cannot win the pot. The best hand out of those with them, wins the pot.
The game can also be played as a progressive jackpot, where the pool continues to become larger if no one is able to win – thus, giving the pot to the person that has the best hand at the end of the game.
The difference to this game is that the deck is shuffled and handed out throughout the game, with 52 cards – so that every player has a chance to get the right hand during the first few rounds, so that they can then open up the bidding for the pot.
