$12 million casino dispute: Phil Ivey is not only one of the best poker players in the world, he is also known for his legendary Craps sessions in Las Vegas. The London Casino Crockfords is known for its high limits, especially in the High Roller Lounge, which offers players a discrete atmosphere shielded from the public. As Mail Online reported on May 11, Ivey entered a poker tournament last August at the Crockfords’ casino in Mayfair, London. He played Punto Banco, a simplified type of baccarat. With a bankroll of £1 million, Ivey played £50,000 pounds per game.

Ivey lost £500,000 pounds relatively quick, then Casino management increased, on a request from Ivey, the table limit to £150,000. Phil Ivey recovered quickly and was able to finish the first day with a £2.3 million profit. The next day, he went on to be a phenomenal success story and his total winnings expanded to a total of £7.3 million or almost $12 million USD.

After Ivey left the casino, a comprehensive investigation began immediately. Video footage from 10 surveillance cameras was seen and Ivey was interviewed by staff. According to a source from Mail Online, no inconsistencies were found during gameplay. Ivey touched neither the cards nor any manipulation was found on the deck of cards.

However, despite the lack of evidence, the casino refuses to pay Ivey his winnings due to suspicion of fraud. Ivey is now suing the casino.
