Gambling has always been predominately male with a slight pinch of female. Female participation has increased over the years but the ladies prefer bingo and slots and not tables and tracks like their male counterparts.
When profiling gamblers there has been a question whether or not gender should be an influence. It is also a looming question whether men or women make better gamblers.
Statistics and results can’t prove it because of the lack of interest women have in gambling. With all the books and movies highlighting the differences between men and women surely gender should be an influencing factor. After all men are from Mars and women are from Venus. It was tested by BBC that women are more skilled in picking hidden emotions and facial expressions. Men on the other hand are more likely to take on bigger risks which ultimately bear higher returns.
It seems that there will always be a battle of the sexes, even on the poker table. Until the females start representing, the questions remain unanswered.
Someone once asked me why women don’t gamble as much as men do, and I gave the common-sensical reply that we don’t have as much money. That was a true but incomplete answer. In fact, women’s total instinct for gambling is satisfied by marriage. ~Gloria Steinem
